On the histopathological classification of ovarian tumors

Ovarian embryology, tissue anatomy and endocrine function are complex. There are many types of tumors. According to their organization, there are the following categories:

(1) epithelial-derived ovarian tumors: 1 ovarian serous tumors: benign serous cystadenoma, borderline serous cystadenoma, malignant serous cystadenocarcinoma, 2 ovarian mucinous tumors: benign mucinous cystadenoma, Borderline mucinous cystadenoma, malignant mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, and 3 ovarian endometrioid tumors: benign ovarian endometrioid cystadenomas, borderline ovarian endometrioid adenomas, malignant ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma, special tissues Type 4 Ovarian fibroepithelioma: benign fibroepithelial neoplasia, proliferative fibroepithelial neoplasia, malignant fibroepithelial neoplasia (Brenner tumor), 5 mixed epithelial neoplasms, 6 unclassifiable epithelial neoplasms, 7 undifferentiated carcinomas;

(2) Sex-interstitial-derived tumors: 1 Ovary granuloma-follicular cell tumor, 2 ovarian support-stromal cell tumor, 3 amphoteric blastoma, 4 sexual cable tumor with annular tubule;

(3) ovarian lipocytoma;

(4) Germ cell-derived tumors: ovarian dysgerminoma, embryonal carcinoma, endosinus carcinoma, non-pregnant primary choriocarcinoma of the ovary, polyembryoma, mixed germ cell tumor, and ovarian teratoma;

(5) Ovarian Blastoma;

(6) Tumors of non-specific stromal origin: 1 benign tumor: ovarian leiomyoma, ovarian fibroma, 2 malignant tumor: ovarian lymphoma;

(7) Miscellaneous or unclear tumors of unknown origin;

(8) Ovarian metastatic tumors: 1 metastatic signet-ring cell carcinoma (Krukenberg tumor) from digestive tract cancer, 2 metastatic ovarian cancer from other organs.

In addition, non-neoplastic cysts are also common in benign ovarian tumors. Including: simple cyst, follicular cyst, corpus luteum cyst, endometriosis cyst (chocolate cyst) and so on.

Pathological and CT Diagnosis of Common Ovarian Tumors

For a wide variety of ovarian tumors, the common features of these are the following: pathological and CT diagnostic features.

It is the basis of diagnosis to compare its pathological features with CT findings.
