Recently, the medical journal “Lancet Oncology†published two new research results: daily low-dose aspirin can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer by 10%, and patients with ovarian cancer taking aspirin can improve survival rate by 30%. .
Reduce the risk of ovarian cancer by 10%
Willow knife publication publishes the latest research
In the July issue of Lancet Oncology, did "Aspirin have an effect on the treatment of ovarian cancer?" and "A serogroup study (NHS/NHSII): the use of common analgesics and ovarian cancer prognosis before and after diagnosis" . Both studies were retrospective studies, and the results showed that aspirin has a certain correlation with ovarian cancer prevention and treatment.
In the study "Aspirin has an effect on the treatment of ovarian cancer?", researchers from the National Cancer Institute and the Moffett Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., surveyed 750,000 women worldwide and integrated 13 studies. The data showed that women who took low doses (about 81 mg) of aspirin daily had a 10% lower risk of developing ovarian cancer than those who did not.
In the second study, the researchers first comprehensively evaluated the association of aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with ovarian cancer survival after diagnosis. Researchers from the University of Honolulu, Hawaii and the Moffett Cancer Center collected and analyzed data from nearly 1,000 women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The study found that patients who used aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs survived than those who did not. The rate is 30% higher.
70% of ovarian cancer is found to be late
Research may bring new hope to treatment
Epithelial ovarian tumors are the most common gynecological tumors in women in China. “Because the etiology is unknown and the early symptoms are not obvious, 70% of patients diagnosed with ovarian cancer are advanced, and the 5-year survival rate of patients is 30%-40%.†Beijing Gao Yunong, chief physician of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology, University Cancer Hospital, introduced. "Currently, the method of clinical treatment of ovarian cancer is mainly surgical resection and chemotherapy. Although the targeted treatment of ovarian cancer has progressed in recent years, the curative effect is not ideal and the prognosis is poor. Ovarian cancer seriously threatens women's life and health."
According to the China Cancer Annual Report, there were about 52,100 new patients in 2015, and about 22,500 people died of ovarian cancer in the same year. The two new research results published in The Lancet Oncology may bring new ideas and hopes for the treatment of ovarian cancer.
Aspirin anti-cancer does not simply copy
Expert: Do not blindly take it by yourself
Talking about aspirin anti-cancer is not new. As early as 1988, studies have shown that long-term use of aspirin can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. In the 2016 US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) guidelines, aspirin is the primary preventive drug for colorectal cancer. Many studies at home and abroad have shown that aspirin plays an active role in the prevention and treatment of cancer such as lung cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer.
"However, there is no experimental result that can confirm the absolute efficacy of aspirin for anti-cancer." Ouyang Xuenong, director of the oncology department of Fuzhou General Hospital of Nanjing Military Region, reminded. Aspirin has some effect on reducing the incidence of certain cancers. However, "aspirin anti-cancer" can not be simply copied, many studies are currently uncertain, it is too early to recommend that people take aspirin daily to prevent cancer.
In addition, "daily taking aspirin to fight cancer has a great risk. In the clinic, gynecologic oncologists will not recommend patients to do so." Professor Gao Yunong said that long-term use of aspirin has the risk of bleeding under the skin, digestive tract, etc. Therefore, patients are advised not to take it blindly, and must take it according to the doctor's advice.
