Zhang Guoyan, an expert from Plant Protection Station of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, stated that the sowing period of wheat is a favorable and critical period for the prevention and control of pests and weeds. If effective measures are taken during this period, it will not only control the occurrence and damage of early stage diseases and weeds, but also delay the middle and late stages. The period of occurrence of pests and diseases and the reduction of their occurrence have a multiplier effect.

According to reports, this year's focus on disease control in wheat sowing in Henan Province this year is full-blown disease, sheath blight, cyst nematode disease, smut, golden needles and other soil-borne, species-borne diseases and underground pests. It is critical to step up prevention and control during the sowing of wheat. Experts suggest that seed dressing and pesticide seed dressing should be done first, and “white seeds down the field” should be eliminated as much as possible to effectively control pests and diseases to ensure that Miao Qi and Miao Zhuang are strong. Second, pest recurrence areas should be selected for planting resistant (resistant) pest varieties. For example, in the southern region, wheat varieties with certain resistance to head blight and stripe rust should be selected. In northern regions, varieties with good resistance to powdery mildew and aphids should be planted. Once again, we must clean the pastoral areas. The straw must be returned to the field for deep plowing. Rotary tillage and sowing of plots must be tamped. In addition, in order to reduce the damage caused by pests and diseases, if the field is in a serious area of ​​full-blown rot disease, non-host crops such as rapeseed, vegetables, etc. can be re-planted; if the cyst nematode re-emerged fields, rapeseed, peas, etc. can be replanted; Crops and surrounding areas can be planted with crops such as rapeseeds, garlic, and cotton; in areas with water sources, rice and wheat crop rotation can be used to control a variety of intractable soil-borne diseases.
